Professional Students Summit (PSS 2019) is a first of its kind of initiative by the Government of Kerala. Envisaged by the Honourable Chief Minister, Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan, like a conclave of professional students, the summit expects participation from about 2000 students studying for professional degree programmes under the various universities in Kerala. The summit is proposed as a one-day event at the campus of the Cochin University of Science and Technology on Sunday, the 10th of February, 2019. Eminent personalities, industrialists and academicians from different professional streams shall be addressing the students at the summit. The objective of the summit is to motivate the students to study in their chosen fields with renewed passion by exposing them to the possibilities for contributing to the society around them in general and the State in particular. The students of Engineering, Management, Medicine, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Dental, Nursing, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Fisheries, and Law, from all over Kerala will be attending the summit. Prominent speakers at the summit include Shri Sandip P Trivedi, Director, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai; Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Deputy Director General of Programmes, World Health Organization; Dr.M S Valiathan, Eminent Cardiac Surgeon, Former President of the Indian National Science Academy and National Research Professor, Government of India; Dr. N R Madhavamenon, legal scholar and Shri S Somanath, Director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Center.
The students attending the summit shall be awarded certificates and on returning to their institution, they should organize and facilitate an experience sharing programme (ESP) at their institution in collaboration with the Faculty in Charge. Students may also invite eminent scholars/speakers from outside their institution for the ESP.
