Hi friends,
I think yoau all heard about IIEST , currently some moves are going on for the conversion of CUSAT to an IIEST,currently CUSAT is a university administrated by kerala govt,. and it is one of the centre of excellence . The most interesting fact is that 15 research centres ( INDIAN NAVY, INDIAN ARMY,CIFNET,…), which are INDIA’S topmost research centres are under CUSAT. the main problem that CUSAT facing is the lack of funds for its various activities,. the authorities are saying that this problem will be overcome by converting CUSAT to IIEST.but there are some sort of confusions regarding various departments such as LAW, MANAGEMENT STUDIES,,………. and even in the case of AFFILIATED COLLEGES , and also there are some questions regarding the scope for an IIT for CUSAT,..all these confusions should be cleared before the conversion and CUSAT requires the best for the entire student community.
i think its a peak time to have a discussion on this IIEST issue,… so friends please do cooperate with your valueable comments on this issue…

Please note that except CUSAT (which is a full fledged University with 9 faculties, 6 Schools, 28 Departments, 13 Centres of Studies,2Engineering Colleges and 25 recognized professional Institutions and which was adjudged one among the top 10 Universities in the country by the UGC.
All the other institutions identified for the purpose of conversion to IIEST were mere engineering colleges or institutes of technology.
So if the school engineering of CUSAT is converted to IIEST by acquiring,St.Joseph’s High School and the surrounding rubber estate (I understand that it is a revenue bhoomi given for rubber palanations only,Pattakaraanusarichu. It may be good for kerala students community.
Also govt of india can consider the Cochin Unversity College of Engineering to another IIEST.
Please not that conversion cusat as such to a single IIEST will make huge damage to students community of kerala.Chruki paranjal nammude cohanjathimarkum, aniyanmarkum kuranja chilavil cochiiy padikanulla chance nashatapedum.

plz reply to my ques sahil!!!!!!!!!!!!
CUSAT stands for Cochin University of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, not arts and craft. They can even form a separate wing for the management and law departments. If IIEST brings in money, then the university should accept the offer. with IIEST, at least the science and technology wing will excel. I know CUSAT is of a really high standard. Many good colleges in kerala are also affiliated to the university. Even though some claim that the placement levels are comparable to the IITs, I don’t agree. The university is nowhere near the national level. Just 32000 wrote the CAT this year, compared to 1,27,000 for kerala Entrance. This simply reveals the attitude of domestic students towards the main campus, despite its perhaps great performance. And research takes place in master level courses, not btech or bsc courses. IIEST can change all that, so I strongly support the IIEST movement. After all, a little extra money will do only good.
guys can tell me about cusat at kuttanad (cucek)???
Is grading is same for it and main campus at cochin?
i din’t got what u meant by grading… if u meant evaluation and marking . yes its same… !!
or if u r saying it on reputation SOE thrikkakara has some good infrastrcuture facilities !!
upgradation of cusat to iiest is a good news. But steps needed to be taken to rehabilitate faculty and other staff of nontechnical departments like law, humanities, management, language departments etc.If a solution comes up for this problem, then i think leftist guys will withdraw from the current stand and upgradation would be a smooth process aswell and nobody is losing.
Conversion of an internationally known University to an unknown IIEST won’t get benefits to any existing students or it’s old students. Students undergone IIEST admission process will only get the IIEST Certificate. Please note that none of the well known universities or even institutes were never change its name. Now CUSAT has a very good name and it is ranked higher than even some IIT.

What will be the fate of administrative staff if cusat is converted to IIEST.
How much money CUSAT is getting from state govt now, Nearly 5 crores per year. Then how one can speak 100 crores per year we dont want, What a foolish talking. The West Bengal University is 5 times bigger than CUSAT in terms of assets. There are some people who are having some vested interest is behind this talks against IIEST. The ordinary people are unaware of this. U people ,please talk to the employees and students of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Biotechnology and NIT to know their benefits gained after a similar conversion. The core of a university is its student and faculty, and the aim is education, Unfortunately here in kerala the importance is for the promotion of some people who are purely belonging auxiliary units and they are powerful than the core. The basic aim is deviated here
will kuttanad campus (cucek),will have the same iiest status like SOE or it will b simply boycotted???
As far as we know, if CUSAT becomes IIEST the CUCEK campus will be made an independent college.
