A hydrogen-based cooking system called Hydgas was installed at the cafeteria on March 4. The product, created by Reinwo, a Kochi-based startup firm, will be undergoing a pilot run for 45 days.

This cooking system uses water to produce hydrogen which is eventually used to prepare food. “At present, we have installed one prototype of the product at CUSAT. The product will be tested for a period of two months. Following which more of such products will be installed in a few hotels as well,” said Vimal Gopal, CEO of Reinwo Technologies Pvt Ltd.
