This is actually an attempt ( probably lame) to find an analogy between the epic Ramayana and the epic life ours,the ec students of cusat. Obviously ,not because that EC boys are all as heroic as Ram or EC girls are all good as Sita. Well…We are not as villainous as raavan either… :P!!
We would have been like any other engineering student, if we do not have that umpteen number of special classes ,..if we do not have that lil bit headweight that we have ( coz .. ultimately we are the EC branch… nd we won the arts..!! 😛) , if we do not have a building named after our department,…if we do not feel happy on being termed as the brilliant of the lot ( well… undeserved things too can bring happiness).. if we do not get annoyed and irritated on being expected to be the most disciplined and systematic (err….. WE CANT BE THAT..!) . If we are not expected to be the ” good for only studies” kind….!!
yet.. we love it all.. coz otherwise.. we would have been just another engg.student of the campus..!!
EC students have a “vast” campus life in cusat….. “vast” in its pure geographical sense..!! Our campus life covers all the knooks and corners of this,already vast,campus. While the rest of the departments have their campus life confined to siberia or old soe alone , we have it in 4 different places.. or rather as i would like call it.. the four “kandas” ( chapters of ) of cusatian life…!!
For the ec students, the first year classes are conducted in siberia campus .. the 2nd year is to be spent in the old soe.. in the 3rd year we’ve got to be in the l.h .. and the final year in the doe ( the final destination???!!! )
Talking about “siberia” ( the “new soe” is what many of the teachers use who are still hesistant to use “siberia” ).. i still don’t know who named it so and for what reason.. the only reason i could think of is that siberia is the place to where people who are expelled from their country was sent to.. err.. well.. watever that statement may mean… i just intend to say that , that’s the place where we had spent our “balakanda” or rather where we spent our 1st year..!! In the first year we were like kids.. i mean… we were THE kids. ( most of dint own a voters id back den..!! ).. New place.. new friends.. the fright of seniors.. the amusement on seeing the cusatian buildings esp the NLB ( as we humourously put it.. from ground flour,1st flour and 2nd flour this building have an entry to the Ground.) discoveries of new shortcuts.. the eargerness for a strike… climbing the trees ( dis one z from my own personal exp)…. well .. that was really the ‘balakanda” ( childhood ) of the cusatian life.!!
The 2nd year life or the old soe life should be called as the “Ayodya kanda”.. not for specific reasons… but then .. since the ayodhyakanda represents the youth life of Ram.. the old soe life should be related to that solemnly because of the uninterrupted wi-fi it provides. what else should symbolise the youth?? And den again…. since it is the 2nd year life.. it’s certainly the time we learned to have fun nd enjoyy..!!
The 3rd year life which is to be spent in tha L.H ( abbreviated for “ladies hostel..the purpose of constucting that building could be very well identified by the granite kitchen slabs and wash basins found in the classrooms there).. this part should be related to the “aranyakanda” ( forest life).. coz the underground life there is like ” cut from the rest of the world” or “Mind your buisness ” kind of a thing… It feels like it’s not part of the campus at all..leave the wifi , most networks do not have range there..
And then the final year life in the doe.. if doe is to be defined, it’s to be defined as a ” building whose proximity determines the strictness.. the more closer to doe.. the more is the strictness imposed on you”..!! still it could be related to the “kishkinda kanda”.. just for the reason that final year is the time when u scratch ur head and worry about what al crap have you done with ur b.tech..!!
The rest “kandas” are also mixed in this epic called cusatian life just like the yuddha kanda is seen in the fights happening here though not with the same dignity….!!! we can identify everything within here..!!
