CUSAT Runners up in South Zone Youth festival

Cochin University of Science and Technology has won the runner-up trophy in the South inter -University youth festival held at Gulbarga University, Karnataka. The South zone inter -university festival was organised by association of Indian universities and ministry of youth affair and sports from December 15 to 19, 2012.

Arun Naik and and Kalesh V from TocH Institute of science and technology, Arakunnam, won first prize in light vocal solo and Eastern classical music category respectively. Akhiljith from the department of instrumentation won the first price in mimicry and the team led by Aruna A, Ishak Rahman, Hena Titus, Fahad KA, Gokulkrishnan and Kavya S won the first prize for mime competition.

The team comprising of Arun Naik , Kalesh V, Justin C ,Jerish Thomas, Mithu S Valsan and Charles Benny stood second in Western music.

A team of 40 contingents under the leadership of Dr P K Baby, director, student welfare, participated in the event. Dr Samson David, deputy secretary, Association of Indian universities and ET Puttaih, vice chancellor, Gulbarga university distributed the prizes. When the winning team arrived in the campus on Thursday evening, the Cusat vice-chacellor was there to congratulate the team.
