The Fees hike of CUSAT has reached 200% greater than that of the original. Many Student parties of CUSAT have declared a War on CUSAT university. They announces Strike on the classes of CUSAT if the Fees hike is not withdrawn.

Tony Raphy, a member representing the student community in the syndicate of the Cochin University of Science and Technology, has accused the syndicate of slapping an exorbitant fee hike in the range of 200 per cent to 1000 per cent for all courses. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he alleged that Cusat, where many poor students study, had enhanced fees from the range of Rs.25,000 to Rs.45, 000 and Rs.45,000 to Rs.1 lakh respectively. The exam fee of Rs.85 had been split in to three and the rates have been fixed at Rs.200, Rs.400, and Rs.1000, he alleged. The university had gone for the steep hike citing the financial crisis of 2010, he said.
