Grant for CUSAT Research group

The Department of Science and Technology has sanctioned Rs.52 lakh to the mobile computing research group of the Department of Computer Science in Cochin University of Science and Technology.

An official release said that the group has been doing research with focus on WSN (wireless sensor nodes) since 2006. Investigative results in energy-efficient routing schemes for static and mobile sensor networks as well as in channel adaptive energy management protocols have produced two Ph.Ds.

On the application side, this area of research would cover safety and security of buildings, regulating traffic based on density. It also has a role in personal mobile devices, which can interact with sensor networks deployed in the environment.

The grant has been approved in recognition of the research work in WSN under the leadership of Dr. Poulose Jacob and to further strengthen the two M.Tech. programmes offered by the department.
