3 Things To Do To Make CUSAT A Better Place

LETS
CHANGE
TO
A
BETTER
PLACE

Clean Bathrooms and RestRooms

I don’t know about ladies but the gents bathrooms at CUSAT are avoided by even the most hardcore who spent about a month each year in train alone . I honestly don’t know if its the horrible flooding(first year block),the broken locks which require us to manually hold the door closed with our foot while we take care of “business”and the flush seem to be missing or don’t work Mercifully most of the taps still work though finding a cup or bucket may be left to god’ will .The weird thing is that none of these defects exist in bathrooms found in vicinity of office and they are surprisingly clean too. Same can be said for the ones at DOE and old SOE. One of my friend even walks to old SOE to use the bathrooms there.(don’t ask..he is WEIRD).So when the administration is thinking of widening roads, replacing old air-conditioners ,or adding new research blocks or whatnot please think of this simple request which would make our life a whole lot happier.

Transportation Shortage
Now this is a topic now warming up due to the recent complaints received to the office that the buses were not stopping at their designated places and taking on students. First of all I would like to relieve the poor driver of any charges, believe it or not he is just looking after us(or saving his own) by not letting people hang on by their fingertips and become roadkill in the process. When asked about this the
driver(he works for the RANI transportation agency) says that according to their contract they are required to take only up to 60 students which is exceeded by the time the buses leave SOE gates so they cant stop at the other stops to take on more as students are already struggling to take air in from the meager amount still available for use. Same can be said for the morning ride, there used to be about 10 stops when I first started on the vyttila college bus which has now shrunk to the unbelievable number of just 3.This is due to the increased amount of students now relying to bus service instead of bikes or other regular transportation. The fact is that the cards issued and the number of seats available have no relation at all, they are issuing a 100 cards when there are only 50 available seats. I became really aware of our pathetic state when we(me and some seniors) attended a tech fest at ADI SHANKARA engg college and they had some 5 buses parked per 50 feet(i kid you not).So I hope they would go ahead and buy some buses instead of relying on the unreliable hired help.

Roaming Animals
Cows, dogs, goats, cats etc etc. If it has four legs it can be found on CUSAT campus. I have heard they keep deer, rabbit and other animals in IIT campus but I don’t think they are allowed to roam freely among the students. Walking the mammoth distances from Point A to Point B at CUSAT is hard enough without being careful to not to step on animal excreta . The main point of entry for the animals is collapsed walls on some sides though I have yet to see the watchman to stop one. Why is he posted there anyway? Do they expect a terrorist to walk in or something??The least he can do is to stop them turning our campus
into a manure field. This really visible problem as I saw the L&T; interview staff gawking at the dogs brazenly walking around the students and the students who pay them no mind at all showing they have become familiar with the animals. So this is a really easy problem to solve (relatively) and hope somebody does.

So I hope you liked the article and we would love if you add a few ideas of your own.
