Sarovar – our beloved hostel

This post is all about Hostel No. 5 of CUSAT – SAROVAR, our beloved hostel. These photos include the hostel, its dark corridors, some wall writings, view of nearby places from the top, the common mirror-which has seen many generations and finally my room. I know these photos won’t reveal even 10% of our mighty Sarovar. There are many areas which I skipped (e.g. Mess, TV room). I will add those photos in time. But still I consider this as a small contribution from my side. If you find this post interesting, then please share this link with your seniors and other alumni of CUSAT. Enjoy the beauty of Sarovar…

A tribute to CUSAT: Part 4 (After dark campus photos)

Cochin University and its premises are quite beautiful at night. I have been collecting some night snaps of CUSAT campus for a while. It is quite difficult to take snaps at night. Two main problems were haunting me. One is that you cannot simply go out with a camera at night and take photos of the university campus. Who knows what will happen if a police patrol sees a guy taking photos of the campus, after all, at night!! You will be jailed at least one day for sure. And I certainly don’t want myself to be in such a fragile position. Even if the police patrol doesn’t come, the CUSAT security staff will find you. From my past experiences, I learned that it is quite a head ache trying to explain them the whole matter. They are always dubious and timid. The second problem is with my camera. As mine is not a DSLR camera, to take photos at night, I will have to expose the camera for a long time (otherwise the image will be full of noise). It compels me to use a tripod to avoid camera shake during the long exposure period. I have a tripod. But if I use it, it will inevitably bring me back to problem one.

So, I used tripod only a few times for taking photos for this post. At all other times, the camera was held in hand. I request you to kindly tolerate with the quality of the images. I expect your suggestions and comments.
