Cusat will be hosting the 86th Annual Meeting of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)to be held in Kochi during 15-17 December 2011.
The apex co-ordinating body of all traditional universities, open universities, professional universities, institutes of national importance and deemed-to-be universities, AIU’s main objective is to promote or to undertake such programmes as would help to improve standards of instruction, examination, research, textbooks, scholarly publications, library organization and such other programmes that contribute to the growth and propagation of knowledge. In order to formulate national policies on higher education, the AIU organizes Zonal Meetings, Annual Meetings and National/International Seminars on topical theme relating to education policy, planning and development in higher education and the role of universities. The National Level Annual General Body Meeting is scheduled to be held from 15 to 17 December 2011.
This year, CUSAT has been granted the unique privilege of hosting the Annual Meeting. Vice Chancellors from all University institutions in India and several foreign Universities are expected to attend the meeting as delegates. A plethora of policy-makers which may include His Excellency the Prime Minister of India are expected to participate in this unique event of national importance. Deliberations will be held on several topics related to education and the role of Universities as well as Governments.
